Susie Aga, Partner
As owner and founder of Atlanta Dog Trainer, Susie has been in business since 2002. She then added our Freemanville Road location for boarding, training, and daycare. Recently, she partnered with her older brother, Malcolm, and expanded her existing boarding business and doggie daycare by opening Atlanta Dog Trainer Pet Resort. Susie is very involved in community service and is a member of the Alpharetta CERTS team. She has worked personally for years with over 25 rescue groups to help shelter-dogs find forever homes. Malcolm Aga, Partner
After a successful career in sales and management with companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Eclipsys, as well as business development experience in health care information technology start-ups, Malcolm decided it was time to stop being a road warrior and spend more time with his family. When the opportunity presented itself to partner with his sister in expanding her successful dog training business, he could not turn it down. He has always had a love of animals, especially dogs, having had at least one most of his life. His family is the proud owner of a fiery 13 year old Corgi, a spoiled rotten Coton, a skittish Havanese rescue, and a rescued white rabbit brought home by his daughter on a casual Sunday visit to our Pet Resort with Grandma. As with the start of any business, the hours are long and there are plenty of challenges to go around, but the rewards are great just in seeing the smile on our customers’ faces when they arrive to pick up their cherished pet, knowing it received loving care by our professionals.
Sonja Thiels, General Manager
Sonja has been working with Susie as her right hand since 2007. Sonja started out as a trainer and was quickly promoted to head of our board and train department. As our business grew, Sonja’s following grew as well. Sonja is well known in agility dog training competition trials and has a following of a number of students that have been taking a running class with her for over three years. Sonja has done countless hours of research on nutrition and spent over 10 years helping dogs. Sonja fosters for several groups and currently has four rescue dogs of her own and one foster dog. We love Sonja and are very proud to have her managing our pet resort. Sonja is loved by all who know her.
Shannon Hunt, Grooming Manager
Shannon has been a professional groomer for 16 years. She was the owner of Wagon Tails Pet Salon in Cumming, Georgia, which served a large clientele from Cumming, Alpharetta, and Roswell. Shannon is knowledgeable about natural skin and coat care, diverse facets of all breed grooming, and specializes in Hand Scissoring. She served as the Head Instructor at a pet grooming school in 2003, teaching students from all over the world. Shannon has also been actively involved in both dog and horse rescue for most of her life. She is the founder of Whisper Ranch Equine Rescue and was its Executive Director for seven years. Shannon has two children, two Aussies, one bird, four horses, and a donkey.
